How would you remove a smaller cylinder from this cylinder?

Hate these things cause my first kitchen had two different kinds that were just slightly smaller on one, if you put the bigger cap on by accident it seemed to fit until you squeezed the bottle- causing an immediate sauce explosion on your station/surrounding floor (always timed perfectly in the middle of our dinner rush).
